Why Are Adaptogens So Important for Adrenal Fatigue?

Chronic stress can take a real toll on your body and mind, but in the hustle and bustle of today’s modern world, I totally get that it may seem impossible to avoid stress completely.

Our bodies are smarter than you think, and if you’ve dealt with stress for too long, it will let you know via physical symptoms that are a great indicator to start taking proper care of yourself!

If you suddenly find yourself with a craving for salty foods, or you find yourself feeling physically and emotionally exhausted with a low mood then you may be suffering from adrenal fatigue.

Sounds ominous, but it is far more common than you realize, in fact, many people are in desperate need of adrenal support without even realizing it.

It’s common to head to your doctor and explain your symptoms, only to have them immediately prescribe a sedative or mood boosting prescription. What you may not know though, is that by simply addressing your adrenals, you can start to feel better, mentally and physically, without needing to rely on synthetic medications.

Your body can only deal with so much before it’s going to let you know it needs a break, so why not start listening to it for a change?

You should never feel guilty for taking some time out, you are human and it is necessary for you to be your best, whether it’s at work or at home being the super mom you are.

Today we will talk about the role adaptogens play in managing adrenal fatigue so you can start to feel like yourself again!

What is adrenal fatigue?

I am a firm believer in fully understanding something before trying to find ways to treat it naturally.

The adrenals are small, triangular-shaped glands located above each kidney. They produce an array of hormones including cortisol, your stress hormone, aldosterone and adrenaline, responsible for that fight or flight response in life-threatening situations.

These hormones are important for your health, with cortisol helping the body to manage stress and regulating metabolism, and aldosterone ensuring your blood pressure levels are stable.

If your adrenals become overburdened and produce insufficient amounts of these hormones or they produce too much stress hormone, you’ll start to feel the negative physical and mental effects.

Some common symptoms of adrenal fatigue may include:

  • Brain fog (trouble concentrating, feeling spaced out)
  • Anxiety
  • Abdominal pain and upset
  • dizziness
  • nausea
  • Irritability

How adaptogens can help

Chronic stress in the long-term can actually increase internal inflammation, putting your health at risk by increasing your risk of disease.

Think of adaptogens as the good guys that come to help when you feel unable to help yourself, all you have to do is take them!

Adaptogens are the herbal equivalent of synthetic pharmaceuticals and their whole purpose is to counteract the negative effects of stress on your body.

There are many natural ways you can support your adrenals, including taking enough magnesium, Vitamin C and B Vitamins, as well as eating a healthy, clean diet.

Turmeric is one of my favorite adaptogens, this golden milk recipe is delish!

Another way you can enjoy adaptogens is externally through your skin care products. Our beautiful High Vibe Face Mist includes sensual, aromatic rose, known to help reduce feelings of stress while boosting your mood, and it is also pure luxury for your skin!

Don’t let stress rule your life any longer, you deserve so much more!
