Mukama Botanica an all-natural, organic skincare line founded in 2017. Kama leverages a bounty of Maui’s most pure and powerful ingredients to deliver naturally transformative results. The first product from the line, Skin Superfood Serum, is available today from MukamaBotanica.com and is packed with guava seed and rosehip oils as well as five essential oils, to deliver a luxurious serum that’s packed with rich antioxidants, vitamins A, C and B and linoleic fatty acid to help repair, even, hydrate and brighten skin. “It's a free-radical-protecting superfood for your skin,” Hagar explains. “Everything is 100% organic, with zero fillers so each ingredient is active, alive and works on a cellular level too to rejuvenate and improve skin’s radiance.”
As the daughter of Sammy Hagar, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame musician and entrepreneur, Kama has spent her lifetime traveling the world. Whether on world tours with bands her father fronted, like Van Halen and Chickenfoot, at her family’s homes in California, Mexico and Maui or on one of her family’s many exotic holidays, Kama inherited her father’s zest for life and entrepreneurial spirit. “Through the many travels with my family, I became fascinated at a young age by the perception of beauty. More specifically, how it differs in each culture and place,” Kama explains. “After years of exploring beauty rituals around the world and living an organic lifestyle, it became clear to me that the most high-performance skin care could be harvested from Earth, and not generated in a lab. Beyond that, there is a non-negotiable need to give back and create sustainably.”
Named for the word, Kama'aina (Hawaiian) which translates to "child of the land," and Kāmadeva (Sanskrit), the Hindu god of human love, Kama’s passion for travel and beauty gave her direction, but her inherent, deep-rooted connection with her family’s home in the jungle on Maui, Hawai’i is what gave her inspiration. This place her family called, "Mu," after the mystical, lost Pacific continent itself. While on summer break from her college studies at FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising), Kama bought a one-way ticket to Maui and began blending the botanicals of the land she calls home and putting her vast knowledge of herbs, botanicals, and aromatherapy to task – extracting and blending the Island’s oils, botanical extracts, and exotic herbs and studying their efficacy. After clearing each blemish and nourishing every last flake of dry skin, she returned to Los Angeles with smooth, supple skin and a mission to pave her own road in the beauty and wellness field by creating her own small batch beauty brand made with purely organic ingredients.
